24 hours for the climate!

As an individual, one’s impact on climate change might be little, but when joining forces with 1,496 like-minded entrepreneurs and innovators from 59 cities around the world, change can happen!

The Climathon gathered people in 36 countries with the willingness to act and the passion to solve local challenges related to global climate changes: they brainstormed non-stop for 24 hours, creating innovative, impactful and feasible solutions.

The marathon for good ideas took place on the 28th of October globally, initiated by Climate-KIC, EU’s largest public private partnership addressing climate change. In Shanghai, together with the Design and Innovation College of Tongji University, CONSTELLATIONS designed and facilitated the event with more than 70 university students across faculties as well as industry and non-profit organisations representatives participating.

During the 24 hours, CONSTELLATIONS guided the participants through a design thinking inspired process: from contextualizing the challenge, sensing, investigating, ideating, prototyping first ideas to testing them with their target group. Through learning new tools as well as methodologies, and with additional inspirations from Tongji professors on symbolic thinking, design and the context of PM2.5, the 11 teams finally came up with practical projects to improve air quality in Shanghai.

As the co-initiator of Climathon in Shanghai, CONSTELLATIONS took an active role in creating the community on sustainable development for cities. With Shanghai Flaneur as a sponsor for Climathon and CONSTELLATIONS providing further incubation support for the projects out of the event, we encourage sustainability practice and innovative entrepreneurship.
