The vast and unprecedented urbanization and modernization processes Silvan saw in China during his stay in Beijing and Shanghai lead him to choose to study “Urbanistik” – Urban Sciences at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Having earned a DAAD scholarship, he was doing an exchange program at Tongji-University for one year in 2014. Additionally, Tongji-University’s adoption of both scientific and artistic approaches, combining the urban perception when mapping the city and identifying the difficulties of urban issues, inspired him to join CONSTELLATIONS International as an researcher in Shanghai in 2014. In Shanghai, Silvan produced THIS IS PAN TAO – a documentary about the first allotment garden in China, which was screened in Shanghai, Berlin, Budapest and Leipzig. Back in Weimar Silvan used film as a method in urban studies researching on his Bachelor-Thesis: Chinese Urbanism in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and produced documentary film CHINESE NEW FLOWER, which was awarded by Bauhaus.Essentials and projected in Berlin, Frankfurt, Weimar and Leipzig.

Since 2016 he is curator at STADTMACHER China–Deutschland, initiated by Robert Bosch Stiftung and executed by CONSTELLATIONS International. Silvan lives and works in Berlin.
